Gurkha Master's Select confusion!
I've won 5ers on Cbid 3 different times (robustos not the perfecto) and they've all had different wrappers.
I got one that was a dark brown, one that was lighter shade, and then the latest was a maduro! Can someone clarify how many different wrappers are used in the Master's select line so I can know what I'm getting? My guess is the lighter one is the gran reserve connecticut the maduro is the XO or something? and the rest are dark brown? Are they supposed to be all the same? Am I losing it? ha |

Re: Gurkha Master's Select confusion!
I always thought the ture Master's Select had a habana 2000 wrapper, there will be varying shades from batch to batch but it's not going to turn maduro. Gurkha's are hard for me to remember which is which in my humi cause they mostly have the same band. My guess is the maduro is something else, but I could be way wrong here.
Edit: I just found a gran reserve connecticut, so hope that helps with that one, I can't find it in a maduro - if they make one I want to try it cause I love maduro and the Master Select are one of my all time favs Ok last edit: there is a Master Select Maduro - so it sounds like you have a nice selection of wrappers on a great cigar there, enjoy Last edited by MattB; 07-07-2009 at 11:56 AM.. |

Re: Gurkha Master's Select confusion!
Gran Reserve Connecticut Robusto #4, 6 X 50 - the regular habana wrapper is 6 X 52
and Gurkha Master's Select XO Maduro - 6 X 60 Hope this helps |

I ordered the Gurkha Doppleganger from CI. The first one I smoked was a very, very good cigar. I have no idea which one it was. No.....wait.....yes, I remember now. The cigar band had a guy with a moustache and sword on it. That's the one I smoked. . |

I wish they would change up their bands a little more or add an extra one or something. I know I've done more than one "unintentional" blind taste test because of this. |

Re: Gurkha Master's Select confusion!
I've had limited success identifying Gurkha's by using their web site. it shows pictures of open boxes. So you can see the bands and cigars. If you click on the blend you get a description. The problem I ran into was that the particular shape and size that I had didn't appear in the details section for the particular cigar with the same band. So I still wasn't sure what I was smoking. but it was damn good!
