Cheaper to buy online or in shop?

My first noob question is

I was wondering if it was cheaper to purchase cigars online or in your local b&m?

Since I have to watch my cost I would want to know the best cigar online site that has cigars for the best prices.

I dont know if its against the rules for people to say sites (since its advertising) you can pm me or email me.

Sorry if this questioned has already been around on the forum.

Re: Cheaper to buy online or in shop?

Depends... The Party Source technically is a B&M that I've walked into many times and walked out of with boxes... but online for sure... unless there are specials or an event or if you live near the CI Superstore

Re: Cheaper to buy online or in shop?

thanks. I had went to my local b&m and saw the cigar I wanted a Padron 2000 and I thought the price of that cigar was around 4 bucks but it cost me 5 bucks. Probably cause of the cigar taxes and stuff its higher in price.

I get a lot of my singles from the local B&Ms but my boxes and samplers come from the intraweb.

Re: Cheaper to buy online or in shop?

"cost" of cigar or 5 pack or box online always has to add shipping cost. a five pack for $16 seems good but add 3.95 or 5.95 for shipping to get your true cost. and unless you are a lucky one who has a zero balance on a credit card, add a little something there too.

do I buy online, of course but I try to give my B&M some of my money too. that cigar that might seem a little high at the store has no shipping or credit card tags with it.
on line has more variety and opportunites to score that great deal but there also costs that you need to figure in. so I have no answer for you, except to have some fun with this hobby

Re: Cheaper to buy online or in shop?

Being in Canada, it's always cheaper online for me. But I would think that any online store should be able to beat any B&M.

Check cigarbid if you haven't heard already (aka the devil's site). We Canadians can't benefit from that site, but I hear there are some great deals to be had at times.

Also, since you're new, check out the "questions you think too stupid to ask" thread. It helped me out a bit.

Thanks yeah my local b&m is an awesome place even though some of the sticks can cost a bit it sure does beat shipping prices as well in some cases. I will probably buy bundles online but if I am getting singles I'll take a visit to the b&m. Thanks I will have fun with this great hobby

Re: Cheaper to buy online or in shop?

Sometimes my B&M has beaten the online prices and vice versa...just need to know what the price is and if you can wait for it to be shipped..

Re: Cheaper to buy online or in shop?

Almost always cheaper on-line. Check out cigarcyclopedia, they have a listing of cigar prices.

Sometimes a B&M will have a good deal do to a close out of sale to get you in. You just have to know what a good price is before you purchase.

Other then that I usually will buy a few smokes in a B&M because I like looking around and smoking in the lounge.

Re: Cheaper to buy online or in shop?

I agree that online is probably cheaper. Some online vendors don't charge for shipping so you might want to keep that in the back of your head. I always like to use TampaHumidor for this reason because it allows me to try out a different assortment of cigars when I feel like trying new ones.

Agreed. And as far as websites are concerned, my personal favorite is CI (cigars international). They usually have the best prices, great cust service, and fast shipping. As far as shipping is concerned, i dont usually pay it, since i use the CI free shipping link. Also, no taxes. Just my 2 cents, from my experiences.

Re: Cheaper to buy online or in shop?

And i recently signed up for a c-bid acct. All the prices i've seen on there are the same, or more than the prices that CI charges, when i figure out free shipping at CI.
