Leaving Cigars Out..
Around June 20th I purchased two Trinidad cigars and wasn't able to put them in my humidor due to it not being seasoned yet. I just started seasoning my humidor yesterday so I won't be able to use it for about another 13 days. I really don't know what to do about these cigars because I have always been told that cigars shouldn't remain out of the humidor for any more then a week. What if anything has happened to these cigars in the about a months time they have remained out? Should I still smoke them? Both of the cigars remained in their original cellophane sleeves and also in another small plastic bag that was just folded over and closed with tape; they were also stored in a closet out of direct sunlight. Let me know your opinion on whether they are still smokable or what to do about this..

Agree with Scott.... But don't worry too much...I think you're fine with your sealed baggie until the humi is ready. You can also get a 'humidipak' if you're worried. You get 'em at any B&M and throw it in the baggie with your sticks to keep them humidified. Just make sure it doesn't get too warm...you want to be no higher than 70 degrees otherwise you might start gettin' some mold or hatchin' beetles. But again, there's no sense getting too worried about this stuff...it doesn't have to be absolutely perfect. I was a bit obsessed about getting my humidor exactly right at the beginning but I've gotten to the point that I'm pretty much a steady 65/65 and I'm happy and don't need to fuss too much. |

Smoke them. That's what I would do. Seems like a simple solution!!!

Re: Leaving Cigars Out..
June 20th? Thats a pretty long time (depending on the RH of your area) to leave them without any humidification. Personally, once your satisfied with your humi, I would put them in there for a month to let them rehydrate. If you live in an arid climate, you need to be more careful and raise the humidity slowly over several weeks.
I'm torn. I like Tarks' idea of just smoking them.

Re: Leaving Cigars Out..
Being in a sealed bag if they were at proper humidity to begin with they are more than likely fine. If you got them at a B&M they were probably a bit over-humidified anyway.
