Loose bands on cigars

Lately I have noticed that some of my cigar's bands are somewhat loose, and can slide freely on the cigar.
My guess is that the cigars have come down in humidity and shrunk slightly since they were rolled and banded.
Anyone else wanna weigh in?

Sounds like a logical explination to me too. Think of your skin, when it gets dried out it shrivels up just like a cigar.

Just send me your bands that fall off, I got a few projects planned for my bands. hahaaa

Re: Loose bands on cigars

Most cigars with a bit of age on them will hve a looser band and the reason is just as you thought, the cigar gets just a tiny bit smaller. It is usually not enough to notice with the naked eye but it does occur.

I was always told thats a good sign of aging. Do you remember when you put those sticks that had the loose bands in the humi?

I have had a number of different cigars do this over the last couple weeks, but oddly enough, both Padilla's I reviewed this week had looser bands, and I just got those in that CI Padilla commemorative special from about a month ago.

Where you want to worry is when the get tight like a belt. Over humidified.
