Wet and sloppy....
I accidentally over humidified some of my 'gars in a small desktop humi. Left 'em in about an 80%-82% enviro for several days and they got to tasting quite bitter. I've since corrected the humi (humAN) error, and have begun the process of restoring my sticks to proper moisture content.
Here's what I've done: I've removed the humidifier for the time being. I've got a digital hygrometer in the box and it's reading a consistant 66%. I rotate the cigars, top to bottom daily so that excess moisture doesn't get trapped somewhere in the recesses. I plan to keep this procedure in place until the RH dips below 65% when I'll think about re-introducing some humidification. I don't want to smoke any of my "wet" cigars until they've recovered and lost their bitterness. How long should that take? ![]() Thanks |

Re: Wet and sloppy....
It wouldnt hurt to take few a cigars you plan to smoke soon, and just leave them out of the humidor for a day or two, try one and see.... I bet they'll improve.

Re: Wet and sloppy....
I would say dry box them for a couple of days, and they should be okay for smoking...

Re: Wet and sloppy....
Exactly my predicament, lousy analog hygro's, i might try the dry box thing for a week and then put them back in, maybe. They are only cheap cigars and i have a box of hyde park maduro's coming in a few days, so maybe i'll empty my desktop humi completely for a week at the desired RH before i store my maduro's..
(sorry! not trying to hijack your thread!)
