Is ash color connected with quality of cigar?

Some cigars have a very white ash while others are grey with even some black mixed in. So does the ash tell us something about the quality of a cigar?

Exactly! The different chemical compositions of soil will produce different colored ash.

Geneticist's Tutorial on Nutritioal Needs of Cigar Tobacco

Magnesium or Calcium in the soil the tobacco is grown in, are what make the ash white in color.
