For A Newbie

I just started getting in to smoking cigars more. The most I usually smoked was casually with friends, usually a romeo y julieta en tubo i got at my local tobacconist. I liked the taste of these and the ammount of smoke was nice too. Does anybody have any good suggestions for some good cigars for a noob like me? I want to branch out my horizons a bit.

Re: For A Newbie

Try most anything by Torano and Pedomo. I would also recommend trying some of the Padron X000 series smokes as well as the Anniveraries. For fuller strength give the Tatuajes a try.

Re: For A Newbie

I agree with madurolover. Should be some great starter smokes!

When I first started smoking, I enjoyed milder sticks...usually connecticut shade wrappers. Or a nice maduro if I was feeling adventurous.

I started off with Cusano 18, Rocky Patel Vintage '90 and CAO Brazilia. More mild-med. smokes, but definately some good starters that I enjoyed.

Re: For A Newbie

When I first started, I too was into more mild smokes. I found Macanudo makes good sticks. I also like the Punch London Club smoke.... My best suggestion is just to go out to the B&M and pick up a bunch of singles in your price range and try lots of different stuff.

Great suggestions above. Add to that anything by Oliva (just be mindful that the serie V and Master Blends are full strength)

Re: For A Newbie

Thanks for the help .
I went to the local store and they showed me around a bit. They made the same suggestions and i ended up getting a Padron Anniversario 1964. It was great . Both the smoke and the taste were to my liking and i plan to buy more when my humidor shows up. Thanks for the suggestions and please if you have more keep them coming.

yes sir, i agree with him ^

i also find that most sticks that are appealing to my eyes, also seem to appeal to my palate, so just go check out your local and have fun!!

good luck, and welcome!

Re: For A Newbie

Punchs are great low priced cigars, try the naturals and maduros. Olivas are another great choice, you'll probably find a better variety of styles, shapes, and tobacco then the Punchs, at least at your local shop. Rocky and CAO are another I would suggest. The Punchs and Olivas are much more milder then some of the Rockys and CAOs. Online samplers are a great (cheaper) way to try a lot for a little. Famous Smoke runs some great sampler 5 pack offers.

Thats my favorite Padron (Imperiale Maduro). For a great budget smoke along those lines, try the Padron 4000 Maduro. It's a wonderful smoke, but avoid the 2000. To me it tastes like burning leaves and grass.

Also try (no particular order):

1) LGC Serie R maduro and Artesanos de Miami
2) Oliva Series V torpedo
3) Ashton Virgin Sungrown belicoso
4) La Aroma de Cuba corona (not the EE)
5) La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero
6) The Edge by Rocky Patel Maduro (Sumatra, if you can find)
7) Carlos Torano Vituoso and Silver Exodus
CAO Brazilia and Criollo
9) Villager 1888

CI's 'Kitchen Sink' Sampler - Cigars International

This is where i got my start. Awesome sampler for $60 with some sticks that cost near $9-10 EACH! This really got the boat rolling for me and if you look around there is a free shipping link to Cigars Internaional as well.

I'm pretty new myself to cigars and I definitely enjoyed CAO Brazilia and Partagas Serie P No. 2. If you have the cash, definitely try the Partagas.
