how does your shop store their cigars?

I have three fairly good sized cigar stores withing five miles of my home, and keep a pretty vast supply of all the major cigars.
Two of the stores keep everything in tall case humidors. One of the shops keep them locked up, the other keeps them unlocked and is very pleasant and doesnt mind you rummaging around. I usually buy from him.
But there is another shop, that has quite a large selection with humidor on all the outer edges, but all the cigars in the middle are just open in the boxes. The store is highly airconditioned, so I dont think anything being kept at the rh level. They even store variety packs this way, of r and j, hand partaga and others.
Would you trust these singles, or if your feel them and they feel soft are good to lay down in your own humi?
Thanks and much regards Jerry

It's a mix here. You have your walk-ins and then your case humis, locked and unlocked. One thing I've noticed is that the walk-in places will sometimes keep their more "choice" selections in separate glass humis or locked cases.

Re: how does your shop store their cigars?

99% of the shops in Atlanta have walk-in humidors and offer lockers. Some shops have a stand-along unit outside the humidor, and others have the lockers in the humidor.

I go to three places. Two have walk-in humidors and the third has cabinet humidors around the perimeter of the room.

Mostly walk-in humidors around Charlotte. This includes the massive JR Cigar store in Statesville. :-)

Re: how does your shop store their cigars?

My B & M has quite a few (about 15) wall humi cases, and a medium sized humidor stocked with all the boxes.

The only place I go that doesn't use humidors is JRs. They claim the whole store is a humidor. They have large misters mounted on the walls. Most cigars I get from them are just a shade on the dry side, but not bad really.

My local B&M has a very large walk in humidor as well as 3-4 cabinets. A very large selection of cigars.

After going through a spate of wrapper cracks, I trust no one. I've had wrappers crack while herfing at B&M's and I've had them crack from online vendors. Now, I smoke nothing that hasn't had time to stabilize in my own humidor. I frequent three 4 B&M's. Two are whole-store, one has cabinets and one has a walk-in. Regardless, I trust no one.

Re: how does your shop store their cigars?

My "local" B&M (aka beer and cigarette store) has 2 small tower/desktop type jobs that have about a dozen different types in each of them. I wont go there anymore after 2/3 cracked sticks from low humidity back to back. There is another B&M (same type as above with more "class") about 7 miles away has a small walk-in humidor thats maybe 3x8' but has nice deals/selections, never had any problems there, even though the humi doesn't look the greatest, its always got around 67/68% and around 70degrees, so they actually give a rats a$$. I grew up with the manager so thats a plus too on ocasion. But 30 miles west or east of me are true B&Ms. One has 2 walk-ins that are always full. The Other has one walk-in a tall cabinet for "flavored" and two glass large desktops for the "premiums" (Opus etc...). Neither one, have I ever had dryness or other problems from.

Re: how does your shop store their cigars?

I've never seen a proper B&M that didn't have a walk in. Some convenience stores have a cabinet humi in a corner somewhere but not proper tobacconists.
