What is Your Most Prized Cigar & What Are You Saving It For?

I am curious, what is the most prized cigar(s) in your possession and what are you saving it for?

I have a Camacho 2009 that an awesome BOTL sent me in a trade (thank you Andrew S!!) and I am saving it until my son is born, on or around October 15th.

I did have a CC saved that was about 5 years old but I did not smoke cigars when it was given to me so I forgot about it and found it the other day in my safe. Looks like it might be a while before I get to try one lol. I wish I knew what I know now back then!!

So what about everyone?

A Cuban Davidoff Chateau Mouton Rothchild from the '70's that was gifted to me from a very generous BOTL. Smoking it on my B'day this year because he gave it to me for my birthday last year but it was a few days late.

Well brother Bill (Glock) sent me a Opus X several months ago that ive been saving.......why? I dont know. I should just smoke it. Im kinda scared Ill like it I guess. Ive kinda gotten out of smoking cheap $20 bundles every day and smoke more of what I really like. So if I like this.....Ill probably spend all of my money on them. Made the mistake of smoking a Diamond Crown Maxximus one night the Bill sent me and have been craving them ever since!

Opus X are the ones that I will hang onto longer than others. Saving it for no special reason.

I have a Diamond Crown Pyramid maduro that's got about 4yrs on it. I bought it old stock from a B&M early last year and haven't the heart to smoke it yet. I also have an original release RyJ Museum Edition. I'm letting that sit as long as I can hold out.

For special occasions, I smoke the random Opus, Anejo, or CC.

Right now, probably the Camacho Liberty 2007. I got it a few months ago when I bought it from tattoofreak. I'm actually going to try to light it up on my birthday Thursday!

Re: What is Your Most Prized Cigar & What Are You Saving It For?

i have a hand full of OpusX, a few GoFs, and some Random Cubans. none of these are my "most prized"

that goes to the lowly CAO black mosaic (6 x 42)

this was given to me by a very good friend before they moved to colorado. ( i live in ohio) this was two years ago. they have one exactly like it.

the plan is when we finally meet again, we will sit down and have a well aged smoke.

Re: What is Your Most Prized Cigar & What Are You Saving It For?

I've got 3 Opus X Reserve that are about 9 years old as well as the big Diamond Crown cigars (2) that are about 5 years old. Saving it when I hit the lottery!

Re: What is Your Most Prized Cigar & What Are You Saving It For?

May through October of 05 I was TDY at Balad, AB Iraq. I was doing maintenance on an Air Control system over there, and that job is quite a bit of constant ready standby to fix anything that goes down during the 12 hours you're on duty each day. There was a pretty nice little wooden gazebo that a previous squadron had built for the smoke pit on our site. It was right by the shop I worked in, so my fellow airmen could literally stick their heads out the door if I was needed. Cigars were a little piece of home that I could still enjoy over there. I cut my cigar smoking teeth on Montecristo Platinums and La Glorias, so I knew I liked full bodied stuff. 05 was the year that Pearlman's Cigar Cyclopedia named the Camacho Corojo the best non-Cuban full bodied smoke on the market. I ordered a 5 pack online to try, and loved them.

I sent an e-mail to Caribe lntl. to tell them how much I loved the cigars, even though the first one I smoked was in the still sweltering heat of 9 PM local in Iraq after I was off duty that day. To my surprise, the next day I had a personal reply from Christian Eiroa himself. He asked what my job was in Iraq, and asked me to send him my mailing address so he could send me a small gift. I sent him a link on the fas.org website that showed what I worked on, and also sent my APO address. I was thinking "cool, that's really nice of him, maybe I'll get a Camacho T Shirt or cutter, or something like that." To my great surprise he sent me a full box of Camacho Liberty of '05. I shared them with the small group of guys that I met with on Friday nights for our little squadron cigar night. The remainder came home with me.

My enlistment ended in '07, and I'm now a civilian. I now buy a Liberty every year for my birthday (which is conveniently in July). There are two of those '05 Liberties still in my humidor. They're being saved until either I get married (whenever The Lord blesses me with that), or UGA wins another football national championship.

Re: What is Your Most Prized Cigar & What Are You Saving It For?

I have a 04 Forbidden X that is waiting for me to finally close on the house. I will smoke it the first night we stay there. I also have a couple of the Carlos Torano Tributes from 08 that my wife bought me and I have been saving for our wedding anniverseries to smoke.

SCS, awesome story and thanks for the service. BTW you might have a better chance of getting married twice before UGA wins another football championship.

Andrew, I was just a guy doing a job, but thank you for the kind words.

LOL, maybe, maybe not. UGA has the most wins of any SEC team ( 98 ) in the past 10 seasons (UF is 2nd with 96), and is 5th in the NCAA in that same time period. Mark Richt is going to pull a Mack Brown sooner or later. [/Off Topic]
