Storing a Cohiba Crystal.
So I managed to snag one of the fancy Cohiba's sealed in the glass tube, however I'm not too sure how to store it. Does it really need stuck in a humidor? The seal on the tube looks...tight, airtight almost. I'm assuming its not entirely airtight, and have it tucked away nice and safe in my humi but a little knowledge on the subject would be nice.

Re: Storing a Cohiba Crystal.
Take it out of the tube and store it in a well seasoned humidor. Cigars need to breathe and need air circulating around them to keep them from getting stale. Those tubes are not hermetically sealed time capsules. Rather, they are marketing devices meant to make the cigar seem important. The only thing important about a cigar is how it tastes. If you want to taste its best, get it out of that tube and introduce it to some other friends.

Re: Storing a Cohiba Crystal.
It's most likely not an air-tight tube unless sealed with wax or similar, but the safe bet is to keep it in the humidor anyways, just in case. You can leave it in the tube or take it out, either way is fine.

Re: Storing a Cohiba Crystal.
Just put it in the humi, and forget about it, I would not take it from the tube, it wont dry out.
You can find boxes of aged tubos that smoke great, if the humidity can escape the tubo then it can re-enter the tubo as well....my .02 cents. |
