Alcohol evaporates at a lower temp than water, If you put a cigar in a jar with a test tube of water, you would expect the rH to be WAY too high. I'm sure that's why it wouldn't draw. Not sure if a hygrometer can read alcohol content in the air. About a year ago, I took an old tubo and wiped a few drops of Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit on the OUTSIDE of the cedar...not enough to soak in. Then I put the cedar back into the tubo, placed a Gloria inside, and sealed it up. Even that small amount was enough to swell the stick up quite a bit. I haven't gotten around to smoking it yet. |

I'm gonna do it with some of the blackest, oiliest fine ground coffee I can get. The good stuff. I like the Isla Del Sol's for working around the house. Maybe I can improve on 'em or infuse a different brand.

Re: "Flavoring" Humidors?
So I smoked the stick I had with the cinnamon, but the draw was hopelessly tight (like sucking marbles through a straw) so I tossed it after a few cheek caving minutes. I didn't really detect any cinnamon flavor, but I barely got any smoke out of the stick, so that is probably why.
Anyways, might try this again sometime, but would definitely let them sit for 3 or more months, and probably use more than one cigar for the test. |

Yeah, I think it's going to take much more than a few days; for faster results, try smaller smokes with smaller ring-gauges, like a few cigarillos, or petite coronas! I recently put a few cigarettes in a cedar cigar box, and there was noticeable cedar taste within 2 days. +1 to you guys for being brave!

As I understand it, Drew Estates uses a lot of oils to infuse flavors. So, maybe treating your humidor with Coffee Oil would be more effective. http://www.americanspice.com/catalog...d7e7a66e36de40 It doesn't list ingredients, so who knows how concentrated it is. Not sure what else is in it. Another thought. If your cigars get dry , the oils start to evaporate. Would more coffee oil fill the air if you run a lower rH? |

The more I think about this the more complicated it get! Seemed like such a simple idea at first... That said, I am planning on trying this again on a larger scale. Anyone else going to try this too? |
