What Was Wrong?
It was a Casa Magna Colorado torpedo.
It looked good, no soft spots, no defects I could see. It lit like the five other cigars I've lit from the same small humidor. The first half inch was amazing. Good burn line, light gray ash, a tiny bulge ahead of the burn line. It went downhill from there. Canoeing in a major way, but also tunneling. Even after a couple of touch-ups it was hard to keep going. At the start of the second third I just let it go out, cut off past the burn, and re-lit. Same problem results as before, but worse. The same side was always behind in the burn. Was it too wet? Did the initial toast dry out the first half inch? Why not the second time? I'm going to get another one and don't want to be disappointed again. Should I try to get one from another box, or another shape? |

Re: What Was Wrong?
It is possible that it was too humid.
Also, keep in mind that cigars are made by man's hand and sometimes you will get one that the quality is subpar. It sucks but it does happen. That is one of the reasons I give any cigar I smoke more than one chance to impress me, especially if the problem is a construction issue.

Re: What Was Wrong?
I agree. It sounds like it was a bad roll. The bulge usually indicates it's plugged up. Poking something thru it can take care of it. I use a thick, paperclip to open plugs when I get them.

Re: What Was Wrong?
Such severe issues do smack of over humidification. That said, every CM Ive smoked had some kind of burn issues. I guess you cant have everything for five bucks.

Re: What Was Wrong?
Sometime it is just the type of tobacco that is used in that cigar, other times it is the rolling, could be the humidity (in the humi, outside or even where they were stored before you got them) or could have been the breeze/wind also.
