Rocky Patel I press..Is something wrong?

Just received as part of a shipment 5 of these beauties. Looks almost perfect square. They look delicious and smell amazing.
I have never had any of these yet, but the question I have is I always check each cigar, as I pull off the celophane to put into humidor.
All five of these I press(or is it 1 press) fells to be very spongy from top to bottom. Much softer then I ever felt other cigars.
Does anyone know if this is "normal" for these Rockys?

Much regards Jerry

I found this as well, after a couple weeks in the humi they were fine and much firmer. They may be a little more "spongy" than other cigars but they taste great after a little rest IMO. Enjoy 'em.

I noticed the same thing and glad you brought it up. The fact of the matter is that with enough time in the humidor they taste great and the sponginess went away,,strange.

I have fiver of those on the way. I don't remember where, but I think I read that these are normally a little spongy. I could be wrong though.

Re: Rocky Patel I press..Is something wrong?

Purchased a box of these in February. Compared to the OWR and Decade box press they are softer. One would have to assume they packed less tobacco in the I-Press. The draw on these is pretty loose so with less tobacco the box press probably added more air space making them spongy.

The common cause for a spongy cigar is over humidification. I know this is not the case here. All of the cigars mentioned above are stored at %67 humidity and are kept in the same tray.

Re: Rocky Patel I press..Is something wrong?

If you got it as part of a shipment, then who knows what kind of harsh environments they were exposed to in transit. Just let them rest for a couple of months.

I have a couple of well rested i-press in the humidor, just waiting to be smoked. I'll have to see how they feel. I know a lot of people complain about a tough draw on box pressed sticks, so they may be rolled loose on purpose.
