What should I do? (Humidor and Tupperdor)
I have invested in a decent inexpensive humidor, but I also have my tupperdor. I usually purchase cigars by the singles. I still use my tupperdor because it still works. But I'm not sure if I should leave my cigars in the cellophane wrapper, metal, or glass tube that they come in when I transfer them to either the humidor or tupperdor. I want the best smoke from my cigar, and I invest in the not so cheap smoke. What should I do to maintain the best care for my cigars?

Re: What should I do? (Humidor and Tupperdor)
Personally I take all my cigars OUT of the cello wrappers before storing them in my Humidor. I don't like the idea of them resting against a man made material, I also think the cedar of the humidor imparts more flavor agains a bare stick as it ages... I can't recall any CC that even comes with a cello wrapper.
![]() If it were up to me, I'd unwrap 'em and use the new Humi. You can't go wrong! ![]()

I dont think it matters. I keep mine wrapped, but Im anal so I cut the wrapper ends about 1/4", looks nicer.

Re: What should I do? (Humidor and Tupperdor)
Really doesn't matter. I leave mine wrapped because they're less likely to be damaged when I'm rummaging around in the humidor or if I stick a couple in my shirt pocket.

Re: What should I do? (Humidor and Tupperdor)
Don't worry about taking them off or leaving them on,,,as Tim said if you have any worries then cut the ends off and you will have the best of both worlds. I like having them on because I tend to move my stock around from time to time and don't want the wrappers damaged. If they come with the cello on I leave em on. Cello breathes anyway but plastic does not,,,if they ever come with a plastic wrapper take them off.
The Cigar Advisor suggests that one take them off to " breathe and age properly " and I have done this both ways and find no difference.

Re: What should I do? (Humidor and Tupperdor)
I think if I had some of the nice glass top humidors that I've seen on here, I'd take the cello off just because it looks so good! As it stands, I just have a coolidor and I leave them on to protect them when I rummage around.

Re: What should I do? (Humidor and Tupperdor)
I usually leave mine in the cello. And my solution to the humi question was to make a cooler-a-dor.

Re: What should I do? (Humidor and Tupperdor)
If you are going to smoke the cigars short term, ie in a few months, take the sleeve off. Cello is only semi-permeable and slows humidification. Some sleeves are made of plastic, and are not permeable at all. Long term, as long as you are sure it is real cello, it does not matter.

Re: What should I do? (Humidor and Tupperdor)
Someone brought this up before about cellophane vs plastic. I usually buy my cigars by the singles and they come wrapped. How can I distinguish if it's cellophane or not?

Re: What should I do? (Humidor and Tupperdor)
My advice is always leave them the way the manufacturer ships them.. cello on or off dosent matter, in tubos leave them in the tubos dont open them... Ive been doing it this way for years... no problems. Personally I wish all cigars were wrapped in cello I like the protection it offers.
Humidor or tuppedor... I say coolerdor or vinotemp, Go BIG.. |
