I buy singles at the B&M (twenty minute ride) and buy online from Famous Smoke Shop.

Re: Where does everyone buy Online?

I most always prefer to buy things from a local shop. I believe in local business, as long as they are trying to run a good shop, and not be far overpriced. I will pay a bit more, depending on the shop.'
However, in the new york area I have been to about 10 b and m shops and they are so overpriced to be outraegous. For example a r.p. vintage 90 churchill goes from the lowest of 10.50 a pop to 15.00 bucks. Thats a markup of between 250 and 500 percent approx, what I can get it for online. Plus close to 9 percent tax. An r and j that I can get on line for three bucks on a consistant basis they want 8 dollars.
I do go in and buy maybee one cigar a week, to support one of the shops, because the owner seems like a personable guy(mikes cigars in yonkers) but even on accessories, such as pg, butane and most anything else the prices are outraegous. But you can go there light up, sit down watch the news, have a cup of coffee and read the newspaper, and I support that. I figure the markup entitiles me to a chair for a half hour. LOL.
Question, about the local cigar stores in your area. Is it just nyc. or do all cigars b and m,s sell ***** videos? It seems like once you go behind the humidors where the smoking sections are, there are always a couple of boxes of ***** dvds they are selling. I never associated the two together. I have no objection, and realize its a man thing, but because of it, I wouldnt bring my woman there. Shes an enlightened woman, but should not be subjected to that out in the open on the walls.

Much regards Jerry

I love CI,
Real shipping prices!

I bought from someone else listed here and they wanted $9.00 to ship a xikar hygrometer (the 1.75" round one)

UPS ground shipping up to 2 pounds is approximately $9.00 bux. It can go as high as 12 bux in continental US depending if the address is residential, or business.
At my job, we order, and ship a lot of stuff. We may order something that weights about 2lb and have it shipped via UPS ground on our account, and it cost $8.00. Say the company we are ordering from does a large shipping volume daily, then we ask them to bill us for the shipping, and we pay anywhere from $4.00 to $6.00 for the same item. We may order that item from an individual, and their shipping price is about $12 because they don't have daily pickup, plus UPS is picking up from a residential area.
Unless the suppliers are shipping with USPS who offers flat rate shipping, their shipping price will be relational to their shipping volume, shipping account age, and most of all, the suppliers relationship with the courier.

Regards

Re: Where does everyone buy Online?

I buy most of my cigars from my local B&M. He's a great guy and has 3 locations and will do everything I can to keep him in business.
If I have to buy online, I'll use New Havana Cigars dot com.
Dan at NHC is a pleasure to deal with and he stocks all of my favorites.

ps. this not being able to post links or pics till you hit a certain number of posts is extremely frustrating.

Re: Where does everyone buy Online?

cigar.com and cheaphumidors have been most cooperative when posting to me in Australia. Many online stores have a US only shipping disclaimer.

Re: Where does everyone buy Online?

JR mostly, now also CI and almost monster at least I check often. I typically pay about 50/60% of site prices. And 40 of MFRP started looking at others but haven't pulled the trigger yet, also looking at taking a chance on habanos but still a little nervous.

Re: Where does everyone buy Online?

We will see what the "Monster" has to offer but I need to put an order in tonight. Had run the Humi dry (Cept for the rare stuff) and need to restock fast. Had the flu & couldn't smoke. Still recovering. Should give me a few days to replenish.

Re: Where does everyone buy Online?

I buy almost all my cigars from Cigars International or Cigars.com.

But if you haven't seen my rant about CI's customer service
RANT -CI

I may be switching up my future purchases.
