Jeff my man,,,you're saying that tar changes the taste if present in the cigar and I agree. If tar is not present then do you still believe the flavor can change just by the cut?

On your positive reviews of using a v cut, as you know I had ordered one. Not the one you had , but one from an online retailer. It was something like 18 dollars.
I have tried it several times, but it doesnt seem to cut the cigar properly some time. Is their a technique for using it? Does the cigar need to be very dry. Fill me with you knowledge. Included are a photo of both sides of my v cutter, as well as two of some of my humis.

I lick the cap, and slowly cut while firmly pushing the cigar down on the cutter to keep it from moving and haven't had any problems. If you try to cut to fast without pushing the cigar down (in my experience) you get a really sloppy cut.

Hope that helps?

And by the way I was looking at that exact cutter today at my b&m, was very tempting but I decided against it because I'm so happy with my wolf cutter.

Re: Age old question

Jerry, I have the exact same v-cutter, it is a tricky little thing and definitely took a few times to get used to it. When I first got mine I had to sometimes do the cut 2-3 times to get it right.
The best advice I could give for getting a good cut with it is to push the stick in there hard, and when you push down the guillotine, just make sure the stick doesnt move.
I am sure you will get used to it.

Best of luck

-Jess

Re: Age old question

V cuts and punches are much more prone to cause excess moisture and tar build up. Simple matter of physics.
