Question Smoking Beetles?

I have a "CC" Cohiba, yes its the real deal, seen the fakes and real and its the real deal. BUT it has a small beetle hole and the foot is looking to get "deteriorated/eatin up". It has been seperated in a double ziplock to prevent contaminations.

Can I smoke it without harm to me?

Re: Smoking Beetles?

Well you can eat most all bugs, they are a pure form of protein (yeah don't ask...)

So smoking a bug won't do you any harm, I'm sure a few billion are ground up in cig tobacco and coffee every year and get consumed by others with no harm...

But having said that, there is a beetle from Africa, its a big ole spiny looking critter, it will "explode" -- pop when you toss it into a fire, sounds like those old snap caps you'd toss at your teachers feet when we were growing up!

Re: Smoking Beetles?

I would smoke it as soon as possible, because it sounds like the beetle is enjoying it more than you...and that is not fair...

Re: Smoking Beetles?

You're already smoking they eggs, so why worry?

These beetles don't crawl into your humidor. The eggs exist in the tobacco leaves. If your temp rises above 80 degrees, then they hatch.

If smoking beetle eggs doesn't weird your out, then the beetle shouldn't either.

Re: Smoking Beetles?

I did once, many years ago before I knew better. They snap and pop as the heat hits them. Nowadays, can't imagine why I would smoke a cigar that had insects in it, toss it.

Re: Smoking Beetles?

Smoke it. No problems, so long as you can handle the sound of the beetles exploding while it burns.

Re: Smoking Beetles?

When you hear a pop in the cigar, guess what that was... Yuck, but it happens if you want to smoke such cigars.
