Re: Recommend a Cuban
You gotta remember though that they are really! popular , so there you may have to rest the mont.4 for quite a while until they are smoke-able. Not to many boxes of mont.4 sitting around aging,,,,anywhere

Re: Recommend a Cuban
The Monte # 4 is a good smoke, so are the Upmann Coronas Junior, or Coronas Major... I like the Cohiba Secretos Maduro, the Partagas Serie D, RyJ Short Churchill... the list goes on. Only one I would definitly say stay away from is the Guantanamera Machine Made garbage. Any other Cuban is fair game!

Now don't you be dissing those Guantanameras one mans dog rocket is another mans treasure, and as far as I am concerned those are a fine cigar for a summer evening watching you son mow the lawn. I just realised that you are in Ontario, be prepared for sticker shock when you go to your local. The G's that used to be about 3 bucks a piece are now over 5 but they are still a good cigar.

Re: Recommend a Cuban
I'll second all of these, especially the HdM. I'd stick with the 5x42-ish size for just starting out. Price is lower, smoke is decent sized and will allow you to sample all sorts of brands without breaking the bank. Maybe look at Upmann Regalias as well. |

Re: Recommend a Cuban
Ask to see the date stamp on the bottom of the box... I've had Cohibas with 3+ years on them right out of the humi at my B&M...plume and everything! You don't always have to age them, but if they have less than 1 year between the date stamp and when you get them, I'd highly recommend resting them until they're at least a year old. They get better, more balanced and mellower anywhere from 1 - 10 years of aging. Anything less than a year old is a little too young for my tastes, I've never had one rested for 10 years or more, but I hear they're great!
