Re: Short term storage for a few cigars
Ok, so the shot glass is only good idea for short-term storage?
Yes, I was only looking for something short-term. 3 weeks tops, I'd say. Beads? So beads > pillow? Where do I get beads? So we're talking a dish of beads rather than a dish of water that goes in with the cigars? I'm sorry I'm getting a lot of information all at once, haha. You're definitely right about saving $$$ to buy more cigars. My only problem is I can hold on to them for weeks because I'm always waiting for a real nice day when I want to sit outside. @ssutton: That's really nice of you, but I honestly never buy more than two at a time and my mother just donated to me a ziploc container, haha. |

Re: Short term storage for a few cigars
+1 on the rubbermaid with beads...
Cheap and as effective as any humidor would be (of course, it won't smell like cedar, but you could line it with some of those thin sheets from old boxes... I do that with this ceramic jar that I use for overflow. The cigar shops should be able to hook you up if you ask.), so long as you give them some air every now and again and keep them in a cool, shady area. If you can't get any beads, I suppose a piece of sponge would work as a humidifier, if it's brand-new and dampened with distilled water, anyone see any problems with that? Just keep it in a smaller container within your tupperdor and keep it moistened with the distilled water, unless someone else here knows of something that could go wrong with that setup... (I'm no expert, that's just an idea I had.) BTW, don't worry too much about your mom getting cranky about any smells that might stick to the rubbermaid, cause I honestly don't think there will be any, once you wash it. (Unless you're storing flavored cigars, then all bets are off.) The beads they're talking about are humidifying beads, they regulate humidity to a set percentage and they're excellent. Google "RH beads" and there'll be a bunch of websites selling them. Most folks prefer 70% for Non-Cuban cigars and 65% for Cubans.

Re: Short term storage for a few cigars
I got a small case that's lined with cedar. Holds like 3 cigars. (:
