Does the Box influence your purchase?

My wife loves Cigar box's, so it is actually a factor/incentive to try new things. Has packaging ever affect a box purchase? I'm guilty of this. Anyone else admit it?

Oh Yes Guilty as charged, there are some Beautiful boxes out there, I won't buy junk because of a cool box but I will buy good stuff I don't normally buy because of the box.

I'm a great believer in aging and many way to strong for me today sticks will be very tasty in a few years.

I but cabs over dress boxes but I will admit I am attracted to a box and that will make me want it more but I won't buy an unknown or shitty cigar cuz it has a shiney box. But I do tend to over buy if there are different formats ie tins, jars, cabs, travel packs, special displays etc

I must admit it's not just my wife's thing. I am into the tins or small specialty boxes.

Not really. If the cigar I want has a nice box, then it is a plus, but I will not buy a car for the box alone.

Only once. My wife is into skull stuff and she saw a box of Rum Runner gars and liked the box. Otherwise, no. When we go to the BM she looks thru the boxes he has and picks one or two. Al donates the money from empty box sales to charity.

Re: Does the Box influence your purchase?

There's only one cigar I'm pondering buying just for the box and that's the Gurkah Holy Grail but usually I'm more interested in the cigar since you can't smoke the box.

Re: Does the Box influence your purchase?

so today i order a box BBFs, and when i pick cabinet, it pop up and said they would have to open the cab to for more padding, so i went dress box on these cuz i dont want hem opened before i get them, so to be honest i like cab better and if i can get cab i will everytime. But im also a guy whowears big ass white Tees nine out of ten days. I just like cab boxes better more wood, easier to store and i like the look.

Re: Does the Box influence your purchase?

Not boxes as much as bands. A cool band will get my attention and cause me to try a cigar. However, if I don't like it, I won't continue to smoke it just because of the band.

Re: Does the Box influence your purchase?

Of course the box has an influence on purchases, especially of a cigar I don't know, as does the band, and the looks of the wrapper. Presentation is a part of a quality product. Most good cigars will have a nice presentation, and, of course, a nice presentation does not guarantee a good cigar. But, I believe there is generally a good correlation.

Re: Does the Box influence your purchase?

I've never bought because of a nice box, but I've got to admit sometimes a band might have a slight influece.

But... I've smoked some dogrockets out of some pretty boxes & ones with nice bands too!

I prefer cabs, but I never bought
anything for a pretty box.

Re: Does the Box influence your purchase?

Twice. But the cigar has to look appetizing. I picked up a box of Astrals in a fancy round sided box. Fortunately they were pretty good, and I rather enjoy their torpedos. Not sure if they are still in business though, havent seen em for awhile. The other was a box of Camacho Negro's, this black, seriously ornate, fancy thing that I now keep junk in. Most likely the gaudiest box I have ever seen, but rather cool in and of itself. The cigars, a tasty maduro, were'nt bad either.
