Re: What could cause the draw problem?

I`v taken to using a 3/16th x3 inch drill bit stuck into a little wooden handle. Its a tool I use a lot in my day job, and it works perfect for fixing a plugged cigar. I too tried a draw poker but found that it often cracked the wrapper as the material has no where to go but out (crack!) with the poker. With the drill bit, its removing material so the wrapper is not pushed past its limits. Slow and patience is required for a clean hole, but once done correctly, it works good enough for me.

FWIW, I believe a hole through the cigar would naturally promote more flavor, as there is no filtering effect going on with it sliding past the filtering leaves ect. Good discussion though.

Regards,
Randy

Re: What could cause the draw problem?

First thing that comes to mind is that the humidity was at a bad level. I always let my cigar sit for 3-4 days in my humidor after I buy singles.

Second thing, could have been a dud.

Cheers,
Brad

NC quality control is usually excellent, much better than CC. Difficult draw in NCs is usually a humidity problem. That is not to say you can't get a plugged one though. I consistently have had problems with JDN Grand Consuls being overfilled and almost impossible to draw even if almost bone dry.
