Cigar Burn Question
I've been getting some strange burn issues lately.
Most recently I smoked an ITC Super Fuerte Maduro. It had 3 seperate burn issues. At one point, the wrapper started to crinkle up. At another point the wrapper started to flare out, like a flower opening. The other issue I've been having is tunneling. Granted I'm not smoking high end cigars, but I am keeping them at 65% and roughly 65 degrees. They've all been in the humi over a month. So, I'm wondering, am I doing something wrong? Is it just the nature of the cigar brand? Does wind have that much of an influence when smoking? (It has been more breezy to downright windy lately) ![]()

Re: Cigar Burn Question
hopefully it was just a bad stick... next time try dryboxing your smokes a few days before lighting them up... ive been doing this for awhile and its really improved how my cigars burn... as to the wind question, i've never had a good experience smoking cigars in a windy environment, the burn line always seems to waver esp. if i try to light it in the wind...

Re: Cigar Burn Question
I agree with Ben about the dry boxing. The wind can definitely cause tunneling.

Re: Cigar Burn Question
I often smoke cigars down on the beach by my place, and the humidity and wind frequently plays havoc with the cigar. For instance, I often get tunneling as the wrapper is exposed to the moist sea air while the inside is sheltered from the conditions, and hence stays drier.

Re: Cigar Burn Question
I hardly ever have burn issues inside, only outside. Usually when it is windy and cold, they can burn uneven and just crappy.

Re: Cigar Burn Question
Great, thank you for the quick replies!
I'll give dry boxing a try too, it's something I've been meaning to do, but I'm so used to deciding what I want to smoke at the last minute. ![]()
