Now, the Boston is actually a "Cat's-Eye" as in it has more of a curved-V rather than a straight V right? That must be the kind my B&M guy has. And holy moly! 170?!?! Well they pretty much do have a monopoly in that market. I've yet to see another true cat's eye cutter out there.

Yep,,,as far as I know it's the only "true cat's eye cut" out there which distinguishes it from all of the other V Cuts. The other cutters you find are a cheap imitation and don't work worth shyte.

Just a thought. When you do your cut, do you bring the blades to toucing the cigar and then do a snap. that I believe is the proper way. If you do not have the blades touching the cigar and you do the snap, you have a good chance of damaging to some extent the head.

Much regards Jerry.

P.S. 170 dollars for a cutter? Gary can you adopt me. I always wanted a rich daddy. LOL

Now this would be too easy. I defer to others!

Hey, Santa! While we are waiting on Isaac to graduate, I graduated in 1983 and 1989 (grad school). I'm waiting on a divorce to finalize so that probably counts as some kinda graduation!! Just kidding, Gary. I really enjoy your posts on these cutter issues.

Isaac, I run into the same problem. For whatever reason, it only seems to be more prevalent with the more expensive double-blade cutters as I notice it more with my Xikar than my cheap ones. Go figure. The cheaper ones seem to tear more to me than anything else. Especially with dull blades.

That's how I do it Jerry. I bring the tip of the cutter ( V Cut ) right next to the head and then snap it like a mad turtle. I would never pay $170 for the same cutter now, Jerry but when I did buy in 1999 it went for $100 and I must have been drinking more than I thought at the time. As far as adopting you,,,of course, I will have my lawyer draw up the papers but you do know that adoptions usually work where the older person adopts the younger. In this case, I'll make an exception. BTW,,,,that "perfect cutter" is awesome and used it twice today and it cuts like buttah! My V Cutter is jealous and sulking today.

We'll have to get together one day Jimbo and I will try and make it up to you,,you don't live that far away.

Here's a trick I learned with those cheap double blade cutters that are just a shade dull. If your cigar comes with a cello keep it on and use the cutter and cut thru the cello when you make your cut on the cigar itself. Amazingly, the thickness of the cello makes for a cleaner cut. Don't do this with a good cutter like a Palio or Xikar or equivalent as cello isn't something you want to be cutting with a good cutter.
