Long term storage of boxes

Probably a dumb question, but this thought just came to me when going through my coolador. I have a number of boxes in there, as well as loose sticks. The cigars inside the boxes should be just fine, of course. But since the actual boxes are probably made of various woods, some are lacquered, some not. Certainly any Spanish Cedar is only inside the boxes. Will these different woods impart off flavors on my loose cigars that are lying beside or on top of them, over time? I don't have a cabinet yet, and a cooler isn't as easy to section off boxes and loose cigars.

I really doubt it unless if the lacquer was fresh. If you are worried about it send them to me and I'll take care of them for you.

^I would do that anyway just to keep them safe from bumps/knocks to the cooler - don't want a box falling on them and tearing wrappers. Free/cheap at your local B&M for used ones.

But your stogies should be fine in the mean time.

Probably being over paranoid. There is no risk that the boxes will fall on top of the loose cigars since they are basically on the bottom of the cooler. The cooler is really, really full. So there's no room for anything to shift. %$&*# damn slope!! I should look into getting a cabinet or end table humidor.

Hey Kaz. I have two coolers. One for cc's and one for nc's. For my loose cigars I have cedar trays stacked in both coolers. It works out really good. You can purchase them for $10 each online.

As for your question on the different types of boxes that you have. If they are the boxes that the cigars were shipped in then they will be fine for long term storage.

Thanks Jeff. I might go with the cedar trays. Those would still come in handy if I end up with an end table type humidor.
