How to reduce temperature in humidor?

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I'm new here.

I have a high-end humidor with a very accurate hygrometer (according to the salt test). Although the Rh is within the correct range (65-70), I can't get the temp to go below 72.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Turn on the air conditioning.

(I don't worry about it; I keep everything at "room" temperature.)

Re: How to reduce temperature in humidor?

As long as my humidors are in a conditioned space, I don't even check the temperature.

Put the humi in your basement if you have one and stop by the new member section and post an intro. Nice to have you.

Re: How to reduce temperature in humidor?

I can't see where room temp of 72 is a bad thing. From eveything I read that temp is fine you just dont want the RH to get higher than 72 and might I suggest some beads to ensure that you don't drive yourself crazy worrying about temp and RH?

I agree. I have my humis in my Vino while waiting on trays. With it set at 66degrees inside the humi stays low 70s. My RH is usually around 64-67% with the "stock" humidifier. But now has risen up to low 70s%. The humi is pretty much slap full so that may be the cause of the rise in RH.

Your room temp of 72 shouldn't be an issue at all IMO

Re: How to reduce temperature in humidor?

Not that you need another person saying the same thing, but I agree that you shouldn't get too hung up on a temperature variance that low. While cooler temperatures may help you for certain things, in general that temperature is fine. The best way that I know of to alter the humidor temperature is to alter the ambient air temp, so basement or cool place away from sunlight is best.

The bigger issue is your humidity, if that's within the recommended range, a 72* temperature won't hurt anyone. If it gets too much higher, that might be a cause for concern, but if it's stable at 72* just sit back and enjoy your stogies!

Enjoy your cigars!

Re: How to reduce temperature in humidor?

I bought a wine fridge bc my temps were in the 79-80 range and that's too hot for me. 72 wouldn't be bad at all IMHO

Keep it under 80 degrees, and you're fine.
