On-Line Shopping

I got such great help on my pre-embargo question earlier this week that I wanted to come back to all of you for more help.

I am fortunate to have three local cigar shops in town. However, my work sometimes makes it difficult to get by there so I have tried ordering from 3 or 4 on-line venues. To date, the smokes have been fine but the delivery has been somewhat of a scam. Checking 3-day delivery and getting them 6 to 7 days later. A few questions for those of you more experienced:

1. Are there any on-line places that are better than most to purchase my sticks?

2. Any suggestions for going this route?

3. Am I better off trying to find time to hit my local shops?

Re: On-Line Shopping

My thoughts sort of go along these lines.

The local B&M can be a great place for establishing a relationship with the owner or manager and can be very rewarding and informative for a new cigar smoker.

I am glad of the relationships I have developed and use the B&M's for talking about cigars and trying new stuff as well as buying singles.

For box purchases, on-line shopping is what I would recommend. Very few B&M's can match the prices for boxes and accessories.

I use Holt's frequently and because I am close, delivery is two days. Famous is a good on-line dealer as well. I am sure that the other members of the jungle will offer great recommendations for on-line dealers.

Good Luck

I use Serious Cigars a lot.

This topic gets asked about once a week. Try searching the site using "online" as a key word and you'll get a ton of useful links. You might get so many, you might want to go to the Advanced Search screen and select Search Titles Only instead of Search Entire Posts. Lots of great info already out there!

If you will take a look above at the sticky post in this forum(vendor links), you will find a ton of vendors. You will always pay more locally.

My go to shop. Anytime there has been an issue with shipping they make up for it.

Re: On-Line Shopping

I use http://www.Cigarsinternational.com & http://www.famous-smoke.com all the time for my NCs. Both are in PA and I use regular shipping and get them next day if I order before 1pm eastern time.

I highly recommend either vendor, they have treated me very good.

I hear many good things of www.atlanticcigar.com and longashes2u.com but due to my location, cannot give any knowledge on their delivery within the US.

Re: On-Line Shopping

Good to build a relationship with your local B&M. You should buy from them on ocassion. They will always have the hard to find Opus,Pams, VSG etc etc...

Also if you keep a good relationship with them they should take care of you on things like that.

But online is were the deals are. There are alot of vendors like Holts,Two Guys, Serious, Famous ETC ETC ... That are always running deals that no B&M could ever compete with.

Have fun sliding down the slope. Looks like you are there anyway !

I haven't used these guys as of yet, but I've heard good things about them. They do have some good prices on singles.

Wow! That's a very useful link! A bump for you!

It still pays to shop around, though. BestCigarPrices.com's (#1 on the list) prices on some items--for example, Ashton VSG Sorceror--are high compared to other merchants much lower on the list, and don't forget to factor in shipping and sales tax when necessary.

I have had good experiences with atlanticcigar.com although you often have to call or e-mail them for current prices. Great prices, nice selection, and good service.
