[Arturo Fuente]Help Me ID this Stick - PIC

got this from my local B&M this afternoon. asked the owner, Larry, to recommend some stogies after i told him what i liked...i then asked him about the Opus, and he went to the back room and pulled out a box of these. he called them a "poor mans Opus" and said they don't keep these in the regular walk in humi...by request only.

i bought three...i'm smoking one right now. DELICIOUS!


Robusto/Rothschild - fairly dark wrapper and a solid white ash.

Looks like the Chateau Fuente Sun Grown.

Not sure that I would put it in a class with the Opus but they sure are good.

This goes to show both the good and the bad about B&M's. You can get them cheaper online. BUT, you couldn't get a recommendation for a good smoke from an online store. That is why even though I know I may pay a little more for a smoke at my favorite B&M I still go there at least once or twice a month and pick up a couple, take to the owner or people working there. That is how I found out about Rocky Patel's "The Edge Lights". I asked the owners opinion when another customer shouted out they are the greatest as he held up a box of 50 he was buying. The owner said they were excellent, so I bought two and they were right. This is what you don't get from Famous or CI or any of the other stores, from them you get marketing.

Why don't they keep these in the regular humi? They are not rare, and they are pretty inexpensive.

My B&M in NOLA keeps them in the main retail humi beside the Flor Finas and also charges a bit less (I think $4.50 but I am not certain). I agree, it is odd that they keep them in the back but maybe they don't get much in the way of Fuente products. Even at my B&M which is also the largest wholesaler in the area, it is tough to find sungrowns in stock in anything other than the chateau.

I agree here, the only thing I can think of is they just came in and they hadn't put them out yet. Either that or it's a marketing ploy to make them seem more special since they don't have Opus in stock.
