Montesino Question
I picked a couple of Montesino Robustos up a few weeks ago and let them sit. The wrappers were not the typical color of most Fuentes and I read that they also come in Sun Grown. My question is how do I find out if they are Sun Grown or Natural since I may never be back at that particular B&M again? The one I had last night was nice and spicy easily comparing with most Fuentes that I have had especially the Sun Grown Chatuea Fuente. If it helps I can post a picture of the one that I have at home when and if I finally get home.

Re: Montesino Question
The robusto you picked up was probably either a Connecticut broadleaf maduro or a shade grown Connecticut wrapper. The sungrown versions are, I believe, all figurados. The wrapper is dark & looks like a maduro. The body on a sungrown Montesino will be medium to full. The nattie version is a mild cigar (I have not smoked the maduro).
Hope this helps. I highly recommend the sungrowns BTW. ![]()

Re: Montesino Question
The two I have look too light to be maduro and too dark to be connecticut which is why I asked. I really love sun grown wrappers usually so I agree with your recommendation. Either way, whatever it was it tasted pretty good for a <$3 stick.
On a side note, I did not get to Bern's Steakhouse on my recent trip to Tampa because we tried to stay close to the hotel and we found out that Bern's was a good 45 minutes away from our hotel if traffic was light and longer around peak times. I will get back and try it at some point in the future. Scottie |

Re: Montesino Question
The inside lid of Montesino boxes are clearly marked ("double-madu aro", etc.)
In ANY case... You'll not go wrong with the Montesinos! They (like the Sancho Panzas) are premiums at "regular" prices!!! |
