Re: Cigar not burning straight
Went to my tobacconist todayand bought myself some new smokes today. 3 cigars, two Montecristo tubos, and a H.Upmann Corona Junior....aint it a wee little thing. lol
Anyway, i spoke with him for a good 20 minutes and explained my burning problem. One tip that he gave me was to take the cigar, leave it in its tube in a fridge overnight with the lid off to let it moisten a bit more, then take it out the next day to smoke it. Now, this guy to me seems to be an expert with his knowledge of cigars otherwise he wouldn't own a tobacco shop lol. But, I just want to ask, has anyone tried this before? ![]() No, no, no. The fridge is desinged to take moisture out of the air. It will not get extra moisture. Please, do not put cigars in the fridge. Lower your rh to 65% or you can drybox them for a day or two before smoking. That should cure burn problems. NCRM's ![]() |

Re: Cigar not burning straight
I have also had problems with Monte and RyJ tubos. They had horrible draws and weren't burning right. I solved this by taking them out of the tubes a few days before smoking them and letting them rest in the humi. They were coming out of the tubes way too wet and letting them sit brought them back to a normal humidity. I haven't had a single problem since.
The tobacconist is actually going in the right direction with the fridge thing, just for the wrong reason. The problem is that they are too moist and the fridge *will* dry them out, but the fridge is a bad idea, as previously stated, and dry boxing them is a way better idea. Re: Cigar not burning straight
2-3 days in a tupperware box with 60% humibeads.....from Heartfelt. I was also curious if this problem is only with certain brands or cigars? Cigars are made of approx. 3 types of tobacco. One for Aroma, one for burn, and one for strength (if you will). Sometimes the burn type is not proportional in the cigar and can cause tunneling or uneven burns. I agree with most of the responses here that the most likely cause is overhumidification. My first recommendation should help with this as will the other fine responses. No humidor.....maybe some of the fine brothers here can help with that, if not, then once I get home I will!!!!

Re: Cigar not burning straight
The Fridge will dry them out in an artifical, negative way. Leave them in the tube with the cap off at room temp and wait until they feel right.
