Torpedo...how much to cut rule of thumb?

I really prefer torpedos because of TMJ. How much would you cut for different blends? Or do you cut the same amount?

I aim to cut about a 1/4" off, sometimes it's more sometimes it's less. It usually works out fine either way for me. Occasionally I have to cut a bit more off.

Generally one snip with the Cuban Crafter cutter. Rarely two snips.

Aaaaand this is why I hate the vitola.... Well, this and the fact they seem more likely to fall apart on me.

Edit: except for UHCs, those get a pass!

I usually cut about a 1/4 inch off as well, and after smoking a bit, if I think I need it, a little bit more. I generally stay away from the torpedo's though because I am starting to looooveee my punch cutter.

Two cuts with my Cuban Crafters cutter usually. Some torpedoes are sharper than others. The longer the taper the more cuts (i've not done more than 3).
If it's a shorter tapered torpedo, sometimes only 1 cut will do it.
That's why I always give them a draw test.

I agree - the cold draw determines if I need to snip more. This is my favorite vitola. For me, it makes it possible to enjoy a larger ring gauge while still being able to get a good seal and my jaws don't get quite the workout.
Participating in a gun buy-back program because you believe criminals have too many guns is like having yourself castrated because the neighbors have too many kids.

I use a V- cutter and have no issues. But that's all I use regardless of vitola.

Yep. I prefer a punch. Always carry my Cuban Crafter cutter in case I get attacked by a torpedo, though.

Haven't punched in years, once I moved to the regular cut.
I cut the torpedo until the draw is fine, but never more than the cap allows for. Love this vitola because its easy to cut and get right.
