Just like watching movie half way or the last half.
You've got to experience the whole cigar Amigo,
to enjoy how the flavour change.

Re: Cut long cigar in half?

I had a Montecristo Double Carona and I dropped it, the foot got smashed and the wrapper started to unravel, I tried to salvage it by cutting it down but the wrapper unraveled too much and I had to trash it. Still brings tears to my eyes.

Re: Cut long cigar in half?

I've wondered on ocassion what would happen, and figured it would probably change the taste profile somewhat, but I've yet to do it. May have to give it a try one day just to find out for myself if it really would affect the profile, and by how much.

Maybe we all ought to volunteer to halve one, smoke 'em, and report back on our observations. We could even apply for a government grant under the guise of cigar science advancement.

Hey. I like the way you think.
On second thought, with all the anti-tobak crap now, the grant would never be approved.
I still think it's a great idea. I'll sacrifice a Pirate's Gold

Re: Cut long cigar in half?

Thanks for all the responses. I'll probably just have to try it once and see how it works out.

I have a box of Partagas #1s - a Lonsdale size - that made me think about this. I think they have a very consistent flavor throughout, so maybe the differing flavor profiles would be less of an issue than with some other smokes.

The ones of these I've had so far have taken about 1:45 to smoke to the nub and I don't always have that much time, so I wondered if I could get two 45 minutes smokes out of one. I imagine the wrapper could be a problem, though, especially on the foot half.
