Two new RP Edge Competitors

I have tried two new RP Edge-like smokes this week and wanted to know if anyone else had tried them.

The first one was called Omar Ortez and is made my Altadis. it was okay but tasted like something was missing.

The second one was called Flor de Camaguey and was freakin' awesome (I only tried the maduro).

My question is has anyone else tried these and if so what are there thoughts?

The Omars were dropped off at my favorite B&M on Tuesday and they run about $3.99 a stick or 5 for $15.99. My opinion is that you should just spend the extra buck and get an edge but others might like them. They just did not draw as good as an edge nor did they have what I would call a great flavor profile but that is my .

The Camagueys are $4.99 for the 6ishx60 and they are excellent. The same B&M got those in today and they were flying off the shelves. He had the maduro, the natural and a rosado wrapper in those and the perfecto size. Everyone there said the rosado was well....different but not necessarily bad. The naturals supposedly taste very similar to the Edge Lights. The maduros are similar to the edge with a smooth overall flavor and they are a tad bid milder than the edge so I would say that they are mediums or on the mild side of medium. The one I smoked had a great draw and a firm but not flaky ash. They are supposed to be a small boutique cigar maker but I did find a link. Also, Camaguey is a city in Cuba but I have no idea how to pronounce it.

Re: Two new RP Edge Competitors

These look very much like some that have been sitting on a shelf at my local B&M. I asked one day about a month ago, and noone knew the name of them (the owners were not around). The ones I am rewferring to are unbanded, big, perfecto and have a deep brownish-red appearance. I will ask next time I am in there. The Camigueys do look good.

I got two words for you "Tatuaje Especiales", they are by far the best smaller ring gauge NC cigar that I have had to date. I believe they are 7x38 and they are oh so tasty.

Camagueys look like something I am going to have to look for. I agree they are a big on RG size, but sound real interesing. Yep going to have to get some of these.

This fargin site. Just when I convince myself that I need to cool it with purchases and just start smoking through my current stock, people post threads about how great a stick is or a good review on a particular stick or just post pretty pictures of something I have not tried and spark my interest, and next thing you know I start a new list of must haves that just seems to have no end.

mtg hehe, yeah that old woman did have her mouthful didn't she?: Hmmm there was something almost obscene about it too, very disturbing.
Volfan can probably point you in the right direction for those smokes he mentioned. I would recommend you check out cigarking.com too if you are interested in Pepin Garcia smokes; they have some decent samplers at reasonable prices.

MTG,

PM me your addy and I will see if I can get a couple of those for you to try the next time I am in Knoxville. I will also be on the lookout for any other smaller RG smokes that you should try. Come to think of it the regular LGC line is in the 40s for rg and they are quite good.
