Gurkha Select Tins?
Here's my problem, there are nights when I like to set outside after everyone has went to bed and have a good cigar. The real issue comes that it's usually pretty late like 1-2am and I just don't have the time to get through an entire stick before I start to get tired. I'm trying to find something small that I can get through in a shorter time (30mins or so) and still be enjoyable. I found the Gurkha Select Tins and am curious if anyone has ever tried them and what did they think. I've had the regular Gurkha Double Maduro and really enjoyed, so does anyone know if the select tins are just smaller versions of the originals?
Thanks, Adam |

Re: Gurkha Select Tins?
There are several different blends of Gurkha tins. I won a tin of Gurkha Natural Lights on cbid a month or so ago. I have attempted to smoke 4 of them so far. They have all been so tight as to be nearly unsmokeable. I wasn't keen on the flavor, either, but it might have been different if they weren't so tight.
I've tried 3 different tins so far - Cuesta-Rey Centanario Cameo, Partagas Puritos, and the Ghurka. The Cuesta-Reys have been great - I'm on my second tin and ready to order more. The quality and consistency has been good and I like the flavor. The Partagas have been so-so. The flavor is OK, but I've had some that were too tight. I don't expect to buy more - I like the Cuesta-Rey better. The Gurkhas have been consistently bad. I won't give them another chance. I have smoked full-size Cuesta-Reys and Partagases and don't find the flavor to be all that similar to the small ones. I plan to keep trying other brands of tins, but that's been my experience so far. |

Re: Gurkha Select Tins?
From my experience, it is very hard to find tins that taste like some of the more popular cigars the particular brand makes, and two, it's very hard to find tins w/cigars that are wrapped just right. Most of the time, they are too loose, or too tight. Personally, I enjoy the tins of Partagas, they are very peppery, and they have a nice draw to them. I didn't enjoy the Romeo y Julietas I bought, they were WAY too tight, and VERY hard to smoke.
If I were you, I would lood for some tins of Gurkha Maduros. They have a great draw, and for a small cigar, they pack a nice punch. Also, try some of the Partagas, I had a very good experience with 2 of the tins I bough!

Thanks for the replies, I think I'm just gonna chance it and try the Gurkha Maduros. I'll let you know how it turns out.

If you are looking for a good small cigar, try Padron Corticos. They come in tins. They are awesome!!

Re: Gurkha Select Tins?
I've not smoked many tinned cigars, but I do enjoy the tins of LFD 2000's. Great spicy full flavor & good draw. I did have to return a tin of these once, as the lil' stogies were riddled with beetle holes, but that only happened the one time.
