Perique Cigars still available?
Hi chimps...

yeah...that seems to be them. funny I didn't get that page in my googling. Wonder if the things are any good...their proximity to Phillies worries me, but they are not cheap at $7/stick. Thanks for your help.
Any first-hand tests ou there? |

Elie Haddad at Tabacalara Pinar Del Rio seems to have been the manufacturer of the Perique cigar offered by the Big River Trading Company in the late nineties, with a successor (named after Huey Long) being run by Bill Walker:
Kingfish Cigars 631 Royal St., New Orleans, LA 70130-2115 (504) 523-1908 This is just Internet research, so is not checked, definitive, or something you would want to rely on without checking for yourself. Perhaps a CG member in the Crescent City can add some information. The last I heard the only farmer producing Perique tobacco was Percy Martin in 2002, but there has been inclement weather in the area since then: http://www.theitalianpipe.com/infowe...es/perique.htm Dale 'Dog Watch' Rousch has mentioned cigars containing Perique, which is probably the most exquisite aroma I have ever enjoyed in a pipe tobacco. |

Gents-
I sincerely appreciate the help. As to why I might like a perique cigar... The curing process of perique sounds like it might be on par with that of good cigar tobacco. Also, how often can we find true US of A puros? Aw, heck, I'll just pack my pipe.  |

I've smoked a pipe for years now and the only tobac I smoke is C&D Bayou Night. It is a strong perique blend. I love it. I smoke cigs to get a change from the pipe. If you give them a try let me know how they are. Might have to try them too.
