I have many Gurkhas in my humi, they are some of my favorites but I don't have any problems with them cracking. It sounds like you may need to up the humidity slightly in your own humi and let them rest a little longer to aclimate to the new levels. The only times that I have problems with cracking from cigars is if they are too dry or if it is cold and/or windy outside when I am smoking. What is your humidity leel set at? How long have they been in your humi? Which Gurkhas are you smoking?

Re: Gurkhas Cracking

Most Gurkhas that I've heard of cracking were due to the heavy price on them.

The ones I've had crack on me was because the temp was too high.

Humidor is at 70/70 I keep it in a display showcase where some of the refill stock is. I got a sampler from CI its been in there for almost a week now. They don't just crack a little I mean they damn near split in half.

I had that problem once with a Centurian, not sure if it's typical or not.

This is the only Gurkha I've had crack. Not sure why but it has happened more then once & my humidors are always kept in check.

But high RH can make the foot of any cigar swell up and split.

Re: Gurkhas Cracking

At times, CI tends to ship out some dry cigars. Not sure why this is, because it's not consistant. I typically put them in the coolidor and ignore them for a few months. If you store them in a proper humidified environment, they should come around.
