B&Ms and cigar bars in New York City?

I'll be taking a quick trip to New York City soon.
Can anyone recommend some fun cigar stores to go to there?
I know Nat Sherman is there and I plan to stop in to look around.
Also, since there are relatively few places you can go to actually smoke a cigar while there, can anyone point me to some good cigar bars?
I've done some searching and haven't found anything in the forums here.
Thanks!!!
Marc

Re: B&Ms and cigar bars in New York City?

The Carnegie Club on west 56th street is probably one of the only cigar-friendly bars left in NYC. As for shops, check out the two Davidoffs (Columbus Cirlcle and Madison @ 54th) also De La Concha on 6th btw 56th & 57th is a good one!!

Club Mac is a must. Davidoff on madison is a good place, don't bother with Columbus circle. Nat Sherman's, De La Concha, and Hudson's all good stops for sure.

Oh, and the search feature is your friend. This has been covered a few times now

Thanks for the replies!
I used the forum search here and a CS specific Google search and wasn't able to find anything.

Re: B&Ms and cigar bars in New York City?

Friday night Club Macanudo closed 1/2 hour early so they directed us to Merchants NY to have a smoke. The staff was very friendly and the service was great. The atmosphere was not what I was looking for, though. There was a DJ that was blasting dance tunes and there was a lively dance floor. Tracy Morgan (of SNL fame) was there getting his groove on. Once he left, the dance floor cleared out, and the music volume dropped a bit and things were more relaxing. I'll probably skip this one the next time I'm in NYC

Saturday I went to Davidoff, and it was a beautiful store. The staff was friendly and helpful and they had a very good selection of cigars on the shelves. I'll be going there again

I also went to Nat Sherman, which had a great upstairs cigar lounge and very friendly, fun staff. Not surprisingly, the cigars for sale were mostly Nat Shermans. A good place to stop in for a smoke

Saturday night I had dinner at Club Macanudo and I was impressed. The food was excellent, the drink and cigar menu were nice, and the service was exceptional. The atmosphere was great - a nice place to chill out and enjoy the moment. I'll be back

Thanks for the heads up on those places. I am possibly going to NYC right after the New Year, and it is nice to have some more info. I can't image trying to relax and enjoy a cigar amidst blaring dance music. Um...No!

I've always wanted to go to the Madison & 52nd Davidoff shop. How were the prices? I've heard mixed reviews (I know it's an incredible store, but a bit pricey).

Prices at the madison Davidoff are actually not bad. Obviously, you'll still be able to get stuff cheaper on line, but the one thing they have there that is nice is a full selection of davidoff sticks in singles. Their prices on several other sticks are pretty good, some not so good. They have a pretty good sized selection of various sticks as well. Either way it's worth a stop in.

The cigar prices seemed about in line with about what you would expect to pay in a B&M with all the tobacco taxes. But they have harder to find cigars all laid out in front of you, begging to be brought home. I bought a few Tatuajes, a couple Don Pepins, two Aurora 100 Anos, an Olde Worlde Reserve, and a Davidoff for ~$90, including tax.

There were lots of other luxury items that were very expensive, of course. If you want to buy a $500 pen this is also your place.

If you are in the area it is at least worth a look around.

Glad to hear it! I didn't want to go and see that the prices were outrageous. I hope to pick up some cheaper Davidoffs.

Re: B&Ms and cigar bars in New York City?

cigar inn on 1st ave is good. small shop, but a good selection of stoges without the snobby upper east side prices, and some comfortable seating.
if ya gonna hit long island, definitely check out stogies-n-tales in farmingdale, the lounge is outta this world.

I think I will try the Carnegie Club this week while I am there.

Any others that are a must stop by?

Can I bring my own cigars?
