Ok I think that I have determined that the serial burn problems that I have with cigars—doesn't matter the brand—may be due to my ineptitude in putting flame to leaf. So could anyone here who might be an old pro at lighting cigars be so kind as to submit an mpeg or step by step photos of the correct procedure?
Thanks |

I ALWAYS toast the end of the cigar before lighting with a butane torch flame lighter (I couldn't imagine smoking w/o one).
Simply hold the cigar up on an angle with the foot on bottom. Spark up the torch and toast the foot with the very very end of the flame in a circular motion working from the middle outward until the entire foot is evenly lit. Then put cigar in mouth and light with end of the flame. Spin cigar in mouth a few times to make sure its even. If you do this you should be fine. ![]() |

Lightly blowing on the tosted end to get the cigar going also helps start a nice even burn as well as pointing out any areas of that require attention.

Personally, I like torches. My favorite's the Colibri Trifecta (almost forgot mine at Veek's house last Saturday).
Nice, clean, very hot burn that chars the tobacco & lights it very quickly. Doesn't hurt to take a few puffs as you're lighting as it isures good burn of the tobacco. For a cigar that's gone out, I first dust off all the ash then proceed to light it. If a cigar's been lit before, then re-lighting it is a much easier task. MoTheMan
