Is it tacky to wrap a box of cigars?

I decided to get my father-in-law a box of cigars for Christmas. I'm sure he'll know exactly what it is before he opens the wrapping, but is this tacky? I just feel like cigars are something to share and gift and such, but maybe I should have gotten a cigar press or gift set (something Christmassy) instead of just a regular box of cigars.

I feel the whole gift wrapping thing is somewhat silly and wasteful, but that’s me.

Rather then simply wrapping the box of cigars… I might tape cardstock to the box changing the shape then wrap them, at least that way it should throw him off as to what the gift is.

Actually, I should clarify...my WIFE wrapped it! You're right...if it would have been me, I would have gotten a walmart bag

IMO if he likes the smokes he will be so happy to receive a box as a gift it won’t matter how it is wrapped or not wrapped, that is a great present (especially for an in-law, lol). I wouldn’t worry too much about the presentation.

Have a great Christmas

If it were gifted to me, either would be ok. It is IMO the thought that truly counts, not whether it is wrapped.

I'm sure your Father will not look a gift horse in the mouth (if he doesn't like em). But I would love to recieve cigars from anyone so I'm sure he'll be pleased.

Re: Is it tacky to wrap a box of cigars?

IMHO there is no right or wrong here. It's a matter of personal preferance and like many of the brothers said..It's the thought that counts not how it's presented. HELL I'll take a gift wrapped box of cigars anyday.

Gift bags are the way to go, but wrapping cigars is not tacky. RJT
