criteria for a smoke?

So I'm digging through my humi looking for that just right cigar for this evening puttering in the garage. I dug through my whole collection of 75 or so and finially settled on a Padilla. It just kinda said "pick me!" Do other gorillas pick a stick the same way or am I paying attention to the voices again?

Re: criteria for a smoke?

Many of my smokes are kept in my office at work so on the weekends I need to make sure I have plenty of smokes at home. I basically let the cigars talk to me on Friday afternoon

Re: criteria for a smoke?

Sometimes I know what I want before I open the lid, other times, I may know the length I'm looking for based on time available, or there may be some other criteria. My point is that while I sometimes let them speak to me, I usually have at least some targets in mind before the humidor is opened.

Re: criteria for a smoke?

I usually will begin daydreaming about a particular smoke earlier in the day and then smoke it when I get home. For example, I'm smoking the last of a 5 Vegas Corona 5-pack right now...I've been thinking about it since right after breakfast.

I'm with you. It's all about my mood. Some days I can't wait to get home to have a certain cigar. Other days, either out of pure excitement to try everything at once or the inability to connect with "what I truly have a taste for," I can't decide. But I always end up smoking. Once the seed is planted, whether it's wanted or not, it grows and grows fast.

Then I have those times where I know what I want and I head to the humi to pull it out and then I spot something else and all of a sudden I'm saying to myself "Oh yeah, I forgot I picked that up!" and then I end up pulling out that stick and it could be days or weeks before I end up smoking the stick I originally had in my mind to smoke that day.

Usually one in the bunch will start talking dirty to me. Later that week Ill pass it a note and set up a meeting for later that week. Then just snatch up the offending stick, grab the dog and take the ol' hour god walk, and punish the poor 'gar for getting mouthy

Same with me. Sometimes I know, sometimes I open and one jumps out and me and sometimes I need to dig to find something different.

Re: criteria for a smoke?

I waste so much darn time rifling through my humis that I oftentimes run out of time to smoke.

I have all my smokes cataloged in excel spreadsheets. It is not as much fun, but at the end of the inventory I have a list of five (in red) from each Humi on the "Next to Burn List". this saves me because if I am tight on time, I will inevitably screw it up by rummaging around. Not as fun to have a "Next to burn list" but it saves me smoking time.

Re: criteria for a smoke?

I read my horoscope, check the alignment of the moon and stars, break out the tarot cards and , oops, sorry, thats how I decide what to buy at the devil site! For my evening smoke I just open up one of my hummies and reach in and grab what looks good
