How far down do you smoke your cigar?

I usually have a tough time smoking my cigars down real low, perhaps because I am a reletivly new smoker. They usually get really harsh and smoke hot, even if I purge. Any tips for smoking lower or do you just toss it? I usually toss it when it get below 2" or 1.5".

<1" is the ideal, and means I have a great cigar on-the-go. The last half or even last third is often my fav part due to the strength (buzz buzz). When I have a tough drawing or bland cigar, I toss it early and light another because my cigar time is so limited I need to make sure it is en-joy-able!

I try tp get below an inch. However I do not alway get there. A lot of cigars get hot at about and inch so I stop there. However I have smoked cigars lower than that before.

And to answer the poll,I smoke em to the nub unless they are a real dog rocket!

I used to have a couple Sigs also. I have since moved on and traded them in on a Wilson Combat CQB, an H&K USP 45 and a Kimber Ultra CDP. I had a P220 45 and a p226 I think that was the 9mm. The Sigs were nice but not as reliable as the others when teaching defensive tactical shooting.

I go as far as I can as long as the flavor stays the same or is enjoyable. If I want to taste the ashtry I'll go ahead and lick it.

It is a tough find ......good draw, smooth flavor, good construction, beautiful wrapper and consistent to the end. There are a lot of cigars out there but few that accomplish all of these components. IMO

In my experience the best defense is a good offense, but then that's another issue . Sig, HK and Glock are some of the finest "tools" out there IMHO, some of the newer models are ugly as sin but i can shoot the gonads off a nat at 20 yards with them.
@summerkc: I get down to <1 as you will with time...it's like the center of a charms blow pop .

Nice collection of SIGS...P226 Stainless..nice. My buddy (best man in my wedding) has a SIG P239 for concealed carry.

LH is right...cant go wrong with H&K, Sig or Glock.

I've tossed cigars smoked less than 1/2" down and to the other extent I've smoked em down till I couldnt hold it anymore.
IMO, once the taste goes bad or Im not enjoying it anymore, its dumped.
Its not worth smoking even an Esplendido, Lusitania, etc. if it tastes badly due to being in a sick period or something.

No doubt, it's done when I'm done, that can depend on my mood as much as the taste or heat coming off the cigar. I used to get hung up on burning cirgars down to a nub, now I just let it die when I'm done.
