Dipping cigar in cognac?

I think the wrappers of the Anejo are aged in empty cognac barrels. A bit different than soaking them.

I was told that this used to be very common because they used to use a very bitter tasting glue to hold the cigar together. The cognac would hide the bitter flavour. The glue that is now used is tasteless, hence making this practice obsolete.
