Feeling up a fat cigar -- what am I looking for?

I imagine this kind of question is difficult to put to words, but when I give a cigar a squeeze, what should I be feeling? How do I know if it's too dry? How do I know if it's getting close to soggy? Should it feel different at the foot compared to half way through?

Answers to any of these questions, or any other advice you have to share, would be greatly appreciated

thanks!

Re: Feeling up a fat cigar -- what am I looking for?

I'll tell you what....Some cigars are hard and smoke great...some are soft and smoke great....some in-between....

It's hard to tell unless they are REALLY dry/wet...

I usually know based on how it burns....or if the wrapper is F-in up badly... but even then sometimes it just happens

There is some variation sometimes from one end to the other....

squeeze test is not the most reliable imo

All just my observations and opinions

I know I get freaked out sometimes when a cigar doesn't feel right. I always think they are too dry from the way they feel. Maybe they are......They taste good though!!!

I don't worry much about my sticks being to wet as I know where my humi is when I pull the stick out. I listen for a dry crackly sound when I roll it as I really hate the harsh dry taste of a dry cigar, and I only worry about this when its new to my box. Most of the time I'm feeling it to see if there are any knots in the stick that will inhibit the flow of smoke.

Iin my experience the CAO Brazilia Gol! feels hard and dry even when other sticks from the same humi don't. I have always wondered why but they smoke fine so I never worried too much about it.
