Re: Do cigars affect your sleep?

Cigars dont bother me in the way of falling asleep but when I wake up and brush my teeth I usually have a couple of tonsile turds to contend with but thats only if I smoke late at night....

A quart of Jim Beam and a good stogie usually does the trick for me. Or maybe is was just listening to Mark in the early days of Skype herfing.

I'd suggest you stop smoking immediately and dispense your cigars among the gorillas here. I'll be happy to spread them evenly (read once a night in my backyard) if needed.

Re: Do cigars affect your sleep?

They don't bother my sleep at all. But when I wake up i got some nasty morning breath. Even if i try brushign and sucking on lemons, it kills the bad breath so i can get into bed without my wife kicking me out, but when i wake up the next morning my breath is horrid.

Exclamation Re: Do cigars affect your sleep?

I know this might be bad but if you really want to get to sleep have a shot of Nyquil. The red one is the best.

Works for me and is cheaper than sleeping pills. Just don't do it too often or after a while the stuff has no affect on you.

I once drank Dayquil for a week straight (don't ask, it's a long story) and after the first three days I started to get real edge-ey and would flip out real easy.

Or if you can't sleep/wake up at 4 to 6 AM do something useful. Go for a jog, do your taxes...you get the idea.

Re: Do cigars affect your sleep?

Last night had a Trinidad Maduro Churchill and finished it up just before bedtime. I could still feel the buzz just prior to dozing off. No, it did not keep me from falling asleep but I did sleep rather lightly waking up several times during the night.

Re: Do cigars affect your sleep?

I usually smoke a cigar right before bed and since I started doing that I have had trouble getting to sleep. It probably has more to do with me drinking less though. I think I will just up my alcohol consumption. I would suggest the same for you as well. Also, two benadryl will do the trick.

Re: Do cigars affect your sleep?

This is a strange concensus to me. I've found smoking a cigar so relaxing to the point that I get tired from it.

Strange...

Re: Do cigars affect your sleep?

I have a hard time falling asleep.

If I wake up....It's hard to go back to sleep.

I can't remember if I had these "problems" pre-cigar days......

I can live with it....

Finals week is stressing me out....but only one more to go.

Like pine trees lining the winding road.....

Re: Do cigars affect your sleep?

Nicotine does have the side effect of causing insomnia as well as nightmares, flatulance, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, palpitations, hypertension, and the ever dreaded hiccups (very problematic while trying to smoke). Obviously this doesn't happen to every one nor does it happen every time one uses nicotine/nicotine products. If it becomes a problem that you can't stand- smoke earlier in the day and let the nic levels decrease by the time you go to sleep. Some other things to try- don't exercise before sleeping, avoid alcohol because once the alcohol wears off so do the effects (then you wake and it's more difficult to go back to sleep). On the lighter side, if you can't go to sleep that gives you more time to smoke another cigar.

Re: Do cigars affect your sleep?

Does it cause conniptions too?

Seriously, I haven't experienced any problems sleeping after smoking, which surprised me a bit.
