My favorite grocery store beer.

Sean, you guys have this in Radford!? I need to find out where!
Russ,

Kroger on Main street Blacksburg has it in 6 paks as well as the larger 75 cl corked bottle - it is not available in Radford's Kroger or the other BB Kroger by "University Mall" as far as I know.

The Vintage Cellar on "460 Business" (i.e., main street) in BB has an excellent selection of "good beer" normally (i.e., no BUDMILLERCOORS). They just opened a store in Radford on the corner by the University, so they might have it there too. I haven't actually gone to that store since it opened so I'm not sure of their selections. Worth a try next time you're up here though. Worst case scanario, the drive to BB is 25 minutes each way - worth it for good beer. I could always run a bootlegging op like my grandfather next time you're up here. I'll have the beer in the tunk of my car ... we meet at midnight by the docks LOL....

Ciao
Sean

The Vintage Cellar?.... is this place on the left side of Main as your leaving BBurg towards Christiansburg? When I was @ Tech there was a cool little beer shop that I think was located there.... any way, they had a good selection of singles and you'd could mix and match your own 6 paks.

That'd be a hoot. The Radford Kroger isn't bad but it's not great either. I have been through Main St. a handful of times in Blacksburg, but have never had the chance to stop. I'll have to make it a point to get up there again soon. I'm still looking for a good beer joint here in Charlotte. They've got a place here called The Flying Saucer with hundreds of beers available but it's out of my way and I haven't been there since the college days

Heading from BB to Christiansburg on 460 Bus it is now on the right, but they used to be across the street in a jam packed little store (which is probably the same store as you remember). They have a lot more space now and better beer selections.

The Kroger and Vintage Cellar are in the same little strip mall behind a Texaco .. VC is well worth a detour.

Cool, gald to know they're still around. Now, if I may, 2 other questions....
Is Tobacco Alley smoke shop still open in BBurg? A guy named Mike ran it out of his print shop in the early 90's.... AND, is the Bus Stop still open in Radford?

Tobacco alley .... doesn't ring a bell, can't find it in the book either. The Bus Stop...... I suppose thats a bar? I think I remember my neighbor (who is a local) talk about that ... but its long gone...at least 3 years.

I've heard my girlfriend mention the Bus Stop a few times. I'll find out what the deal with it is tonight for you. Tobacco Alley sounds familiar. I think she was going to take me to that place the last time I was up there, but I'm not sure.

OK...for any of those interested, the Bus Stop apparently lost its liquor license somewhile back. I think the building is still there, but the club is long gone. Tobacco Alley I believe is in Christiansburg from what I've been told.

Anyone familiar with the Pennsylvania brewery Stegmaier? They make some yummy beer. I like to pair their lager with an ERDM Rothchild.
