^Yeah, that.

I'm starting to collect them so I know what I've smoked and if I liked it.

Re: Band On or Band Off?

I leave mine on until it's ready to come off. If it's really loose when I take the stick out of the humi, I'll remove the band right then. Otherwise, I'll do it when I smoke the stick.

Re: Band On or Band Off?

Interesting thread. This is why this hobby...yeah! that's what it is...not an obsession.....uh this hobby is so interesting. The simplest thing seems to have a story to it.

I have always left the band on. Mostly because of the aesthetics. Some gars look magnificent and the band really compliments them. So I enjoy looking at it. I'll remove it if I am going to nub it.

I never, for the life of me, thought that by doing this it would be seen as being a snob. Most of the guys I smoke with know less about cigars than I do (which isn't a whole lot). And we're usually smokin similar gars anyway.

I recently gave a friend his choice out of about 5 gars and I was shocked when he ripped the band uncerimoniously off before he even lit it. I would have thought this might have been improper etiquette. Wasn't offended, since he was more of a newb than I.

Great thread.

Re: Band On or Band Off?

I usually leave the band on until the burn gets near it, then I remove it.
I figure someone took the time to design the band, why not show it off?

I don't subscrbe to the thought of it being pompus to leave the band on....I smoke up and down the economic scale so I'm just as proud to show off the IT Super Fuerte I'm smoking as I am about the Ashton.

Re: Band On or Band Off?

I usually remove it, only because my English father once teased me by asking 'Listening to the music, are you?' (smoking with the band on). But it doesn't really matter, I'm usually by myself smoking anyway.

Thumbs up Re: Band On or Band Off?

Depends, If I know it's something that is going to be good, I take it off. If it's a new one, that I haven't tried before, I leave it on. That way if it's really crappy I use it as a marker to be rid of the cigar. Kind of goofy I know, but, it's how I have rationalized getting rid of a crappy cigar and not felt guilty for wasting it. (Yeah, I was raised Jewish/Catholic, plenty of guilt to go 'round here!)

Re: Band On or Band Off?

I always remove the band unless it appears to be glued to the wrapper, which in my opinion is just sloppy construction.
