Hello to All & Newbie Advice?

Hey Guys, Ihave been hanging around for a couple of weeks and decided to join the fun! What a great site-have enjoyed the info and comedy.I just returned from a scuba trip to Cozumel Mexico where my dive buddy got me started on some good ISOMs & Mojitos.I came home and immediately bought a Humi and have been trying some different smokes, trying to find some ones I enjoy. Have had some Ashton Maduros and Vsgs as well as some Onyx,La Gloria Cubana and CAOs that were good. Any recomendations for medium to strong Smokes I should try?? I would appreciate it,you guys seem to really know your stuff!
P.S. Great site Paul-your work is indeed A+

RE: Hello to All & Newbie Advice?

First things first...Welcome to Club Stogie, Drewsky. You'll like it here!

As far as recommendations go...If you liked the VSG's then you do like 'em strong! You already mentioned some of my favorite full bodied smokes (La Gloria and CAO Extremes are great). You might check out some various Bolivars and Casa Blanca Reserves. For a more medium bodied smoke you've gotta try the Puros Indios in either colarado or maduro.

For the Puros Indios there is a fellow LLG that posts here often that goes by OnePyroTec. Shoot him an email for some very competetive deals on those and other quality smokes. He comes very well recommended by most all posters to Club Stogie.

Enjoy....

Hey and welcome,
I can echo those thoughts about OnePyroTec. Good guy. Alot of people here can steer you in the right direction for good stogies. As for me, I`m a fan of the Fuente Don Carlos and Hemingways lines. They are about medium bodied, but still great. For full bodied, VSGs stand out (especially the Illusions IMHO), also Onyx Reserve, Padron Anniversarios or OpusX (if you can get them) and some nice havana PCs. My suggestion is to sample as many different kinds as possible. I`m still looking for my steady smoke. Most of all, enjoy!
There`s a great group of people here who will steer you right. Have fun and post lots.
Later,
Skyler

Welcome to the tall grass Drewsky.:-)

Since you seem to like the stronger smokes (I love the VSG too) here's a few suggestions from the domestic line:
- Camacho Corojo
- Indian Tabac Super Fuerte DC
- Indian Tabac Mini Belicoso Maduro
- Hoyo de Monterey Rothchild (double maduro)
- Bolivar Fuerte (Cuban Corona and 654)
- Partagas Black Label (torp is best imho)

And, of course....any Opus X by Fuente

Welcome to the jungle.

Yeah, there are more smokes worth trying than I'll ever have time for. I recommend the El Rey del Mundo Robusto Larga as a medium to strong smoke. You already have La Gloria Cubana, which might just be my favorite non-ISOM.

RE: Hello to All & Newbie Advice?

Welcome to the Jungle!

Of course any list of medium to strong smokes must include Padron 2000-4000. They are all quality smokes. For a strong cigar, at a reasonable price, you should try La Rosa Especial. I've purchased a box of the Mi Favorita Maduros and I loved them. Also any product by Mayorga. They have strong coffee and chocolate flavors and are medium in strength.

A newer line you may want to try is the Bolivar Fuerte line. They are a well made, strong cigar.

Hope that helps...
