TNT is having a sale on boxes and wanted to pick up a few. Just wanted opinions first. I've had their Early years and discontinued LVH Cedar Chateau series and enjoyed them.

Maybe you can clear this up. As per my research, is the LVH Cedar Chateau blend the same as these, only now called just the LVH Chateau series.

Clicky

Sorry to threadjack, but I haven't had any of the newer ones.

I have tried both the maduro and corojo, Both are good, well worth the price TNT wants for them.

Re: La Vieja Habana

agreed with the above. I bought and went through a box of maduro's that I thought were very decent cigars, especially at less than 2 a stick. The mix filler keeps the draw loose which I like, and you still get the classic medium maduro flavors. I don't smoke enough to warrant buying cheaper smokes like I once did, so I probably won't be picking up anymore, but they are great smokes for what they are. They are also great to give to people who want to try a cigar.

I got a box of the maduros, but I have to say my taste for them has gone away, not to say that they are bad cigars or anything. I think they're a great cigar for the price. They have interesting packaging as well. They come nestled in pile of loose tobacco inside the box.

As far as I know the line was never called Cedar Chateau and still isn't called the Chateau series, though they did have several vitolas with "Chateau" in the name (Chateau No 1, Chateau No. 3, etc.). I believe the line is, or at least was, called Fuma. LVH also makes the Leather Patch and The Early Years (maybe another?).

The current Chateau Corona (5.5x46) is the closest to the old Chateau No. 1 (5.5x44). Several vitolas were eliminated and a couple new ones arrived with the new wrappers, as well as cello now.

I don't care all that much for the Cameroon or Connecticut shade wrappers, though I don't think that makes them bad, just not for me. I do however like the maduro and the corojo versions, they're good for the golf course. I really think this lines give a good (and cheap) opportunity to see what each of those wrappers brings to the same cigar. Well worth trying out.

Re: La Vieja Habana

I smoked a maduro, (green label) yesterday and it was my first La Vieja Habana. It exceeded my expectations for a mixed filler cigar. It was really tasty.
