Lower Humidity

I see that most of you keep your cigars with the 65% beads. Does anybody keep them lower than 65% rh? Will keeping cigars in the 60-65% range for months at a time cause them to lose oils? Has anybody experimented with RH this low?

Re: Lower Humidity

I keep most of my cigars between 60% and 65%--I find that I get more flavor from this this way.

I also have kept mine 60-65% for several years for the same reason as croatan. Everything is groovy!

Some like to age cigars at even lower rh levels.

Re: Lower Humidity

Don't some in Europe like to keep their cigars lower than 60%?

Anyway, quick search yielded these a couple of threads:

Though from what a lot of people here say, it's up to personal preference.

Re: Lower Humidity

I keep my cigars at 63%, I prefer this RH for both aging and smoking.

They also smoke a lot better and don't have burn problems.

I with the Admiral...63% is what I shoot for, but I don't sweat it too much. If they are between 60-65% I am a happy camper.

Re: Lower Humidity

I'm in agreement with most everyone else. 60-65% is perfect for aging. But when I actually smoke them ideally I'd have them closer to 70... it's just a personal preference.

That pretty much sums it up...different strokes for different folks.
