Xi2 Problem

I recently grabbed a Xi2 that came with a sampler pack of sticks.

The cutter performed great until about a week later. I noticed that the blades seemed a little bit loose and I opened and closed it about three times trying to find the cause. Much to my dismay, one of the screws at the bottom popped off and fell into my thick weave carpet. After combing the floor for about ten minutes, I finally located the escapee and managed to put the screw back where it belongs, however, the screw only tightens up so far before it hits the screw on the opposite side thereby loosening the one side while trying to tighten up the other!

Both screw turn freely with a fingernail and I am afraid that I may lose one of them unknowingly and never find the darn thing.

I have read a lot about Xicar's customer service and will most likely just return it for repair, I just don't like having to go to the trouble with a $30 cutter that has only been used a handfull of times.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Re: Xi2 Problem

Yeah, I grabbed the package thinking it was a Xi1. A friend of mine has one and I loved using it whenever we would smoke.

The Xi2 is much lighter and, dare I say, flimsier.

The cutting action is incredible, I was just very dissappointed to have trouble with only a week's worth of use out of it.

I have also heard great things about their CS, so I am sure I will be helped there.

Re: Xi2 Problem

The Spring on my Xi3 Beechwood cutter snapped after 2 months. I was sad, but Xikar got a new one to me in 6 days (that includes the time it took to ship the first one back to them) They're very friendly and very responsive.

Maybe, but they have lifetime free sharpening. I find the Xikars cut more evenly than my Palios. Don't know why, the palios are sharp too.

Re: Xi2 Problem

I play with mine alot, too. My point is, that's probably why it stopped working......At least, that's what Mrs. Magno told me.
