Cigarbid

I've been eyeing the Cigars up for bid at Cigarbid.com and I'm wondering what the big deal is? I mean I'm watching people bid $76 on a box of Stogies they could buy at JR's for $80 and the shipping at JR's is like 4 bucks cheaper. Actually, I've seen people bid more for Cigars at CB than on Cigars International Cigarbids retail site. Anybody been finding any deals their?

Depends entirely on what you buy. Forget Padron, Fuente, CAO, or most other well known brands. But great deals on nice smokes that are under the radar can be had. As you've noticed, some people are idiots.

Re: Cigarbid

What Sean said. Just know what the sticks can be had for elsewhere and don't overbid.

Some great deals can be had on c-bid.

I do have to disagree with Sean on one point; MOST people are idiots. (just not the ones on this board )

Re: Cigarbid

what he said.

hey, there's people out there who have been SHOWN other sites that sell Padrons $40 cheaper per box, but for some crazy reason, they keep ordering from Thompsons cigar?? (my boss) i don't know how many times i've shown him different sites to buy his favorite cigars at (LGC Series Rs as well), he wont' stray???

but, you can find some sweet deals on c-bid if you look/wait for them. most on merchandise though.

I agree, the best deals are on the merchandise. I finally won an auction for a black Otter box last week after trying for about 6 months. With patience though I got it for my price.

Re: Cigarbid

I think it's sort of a "Vegas" mentality. They have this mental attitude of one-upmanship on some unseen bidder that is not going to outbid ME! When they win the bid, it makes them feel important inside.

You been talking to my wife?

There are some real silly bids on CB for sure.

This guy gets 20 CAO Italia Ciaos (without the box) for $156 + shipping. They are $97.95 + shipping per box at CI, not the best price online I have seen I might add.

http://www.cigarbid.com/auction/lot.cfm?lotID=243099

I've even seen worse overbids than that, too.

OTOH, I get [censored] at CB for 20 bucks a box less than ANYWHERE on the net. As I love these smokes, I'm happy as a clam when they arrive.

Re: Cigarbid

In my experience with Cigar Bid its all about searching and waiting. Sometimes you catch a real bargain is you just wait a bit. Sometimes people don't want to and start a very stupid bidding war and end up paying more than JR or others.

I did do pretty well on another Auction Site a couple of weeks ago. Got a Box of Gran Habano Corojo #5 Pyrimids for $56. I think they retail around $70.

Re: Cigarbid

I use CBid all the time, like Jeff said, you have to wait and have patience. I usually throw up a bid and have it go up to what I am willing to pay, then just wait...most of the time I don't get it but once in awhile you can sneek in a great buy!! I've found several 5 packs with great prices. You just have to remember that delivery has to be included in your bid!!

yep, i just won a yellow one. i wasn't too finicky about the price, as i got it for $22 (the size that holds 24 or so cigar). i then went to a local shop where they had one identical for $100.
